I'm a sucker for salty chocolate treats, so chocolate covered pretzels have e'er been a favorite of mine. Add in caramel, and well, now you're talking. There are lots of caramel chocolate pretzel variations out there, and honestly, they're ALL GOOD!

Merely I've fine tuned this recipe to make sure this one is the best 😉. Information technology has the perfect ratio of crunchy pretzel to chewy caramel and LOTS of chocolate. Boosted coarse common salt is optional, of course, just I retrieve it takes this right over the top.

These salted caramel chocolate pretzels are AMAZING! Perfect treat for homemade gifts or Christmas parties.

I like that these treats are piddling (as opposed to a whole dipped pretzel rod) because they work well on a treat table for a holiday political party. They also package upward nicely as gifts.

Hither's what they look similar on the within:

If you don't want to add together extra common salt on top, yous can use holiday sprinkles instead, or merely leave them patently:

Salted Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Recipe

Learn how to make THE All-time salted caramel chocolate pretzel treats. Great for gifts or parties!

  • 1 bag Kraft Caramels xi oz, about 35 caramels
  • 1 bag Snaps Pretzels 16 oz, square shape
  • 16 oz White Almond bawl see note
  • 12 oz Nighttime Chocolate Chips
  • Fibroid Common salt
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Lay out lxx square pretzels.

  • Open and unwrap all the caramels in the bag (at that place should be about 35). Cut them in half lengthwise. Place i caramel half on top of each pretzel.

  • Place in a 250 degree (F) oven for 8 minutes until caramel is soft.

  • Press another pretzel on pinnacle of each piece of caramel, gently pressing down to sandwich the caramel in between the pretzels.

  • Melt the almond bawl and chocolate together in a microwave safety bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a fourth dimension, stirring thoroughly in between each time, until chocolate is melted.

  • Selection upward each pretzel by a corner and dip into the chocolate, leaving but the corner uncovered. Place pretzel dorsum down on the parchment paper to cool.

  • Sprinkle with fibroid salt or sprinkles if desired. (You'll probably desire to stop afterward every 10 pretzels to sprinkle them.)

  • Allow to set upward until hard. You tin place tray in the fridge to set up. Store covered.

You can use any type of chocolate that you would like to dip these in, and for a batch of 72 you lot'll probably only need almost 22 ounces full. If you use the full amount called for in the recipe (28 ounces), you'll be able to make about 30 more pretzels - that will require another half bag of caramels.

I like to employ a mixture of almond bark and good quality chocolate. Almond bark sets up actually nicely, but doesn't taste equally good every bit real chocolate. Real chocolate tastes best, but unless you're willing to temper information technology y'all may end upwards with gray streaks when it cools. Then a combination of almond bark and chocolate offers the easiest way to it to taste AND await cracking.

I used white almond bawl and Hershey's Dark chocolate chips.

When y'all cut the pretzels in half, use a sharp pocketknife and cut them lengthwise, or "hot dog" style, so they look like this:

Pretzels with caramel on top

Later 8 minutes in a warm oven the caramels should be soft enough that you can easily press some other pretzel on top and squish the caramel in between them. If the caramels aren't soft enough and the pretzels suspension, just return them to the oven for a few minutes.

Pretzels sandwiched around caramel

Dip, sprinkle, absurd. I similar to place the entire tray in the fridge so the chocolate will harden quickly. But don't store them in the refrigerator considering then the caramel gets too hard.
